Artist’s Studio as it was in the 1960’s. Untouched. August 2012.
I took a series of shots while touring an abandoned religious building of extreme historical importance. I am putting together a team to try to save the building and put it back into use while retaining history. Too often America’s historic structures are either demolished or altered in ways that are too modern—they lose that magic. Frankly, I see up to a billion dollars flowing into Afghanistan to build a highway to nowhere that isn’t even finished yet, and wonder why our priorities can’t be adjusted to protect, preserve and re-use some of the incredible structures right here in America. For comparison, this project would cost about $2 million to stabilize, renovate and get the building to a state where it could be used publicly. A drop in the bucket in the big scheme of things. And totally worth it. More photos to come…..
